Twinkle’s story takes place in South Carolina United States. From the very first dress received from Paris, it was clear that our designs were much more than fabric and stitches : it was about weaving tenderness and tradition and celebrating Twinkle's joyful spirit and love of life.
The First Dress — A Portrait Moment
Twinkle and her mother first discovered Charlotte Sy Dimby through another family who had already fallen in love with one of our dresses. A truly special bond was created soon after, during a contest organised in collaboration with the renowned American portrait artist Shari Ford. Each spring, she holds a competition inspiring families to express their creative talents and imagination.
The theme, “Curtsy”, invited little girls to pose in our designs while performing their prettiest curtsy. Twinkle’s portrait captured both grace and joy, earning her the winning place and a hand painted oil portrait created from her photograph.
Other Treasured Moments
Among the family's collection, another beloved dress has been the blue "Amour Toujours" dress, which perfectly embodies Twinkle and her mom's kind hearts! If there were one word only to describe them, it would be love, without a moment of hesitation! Through each picture and discussion, their tender spirits shine brightly.The sleeveless summer dress was crafted in sky-blue Oxford cotton. Upon the chest, the message "Amour Toujours" was hand-embroidered and surrounded by delicate fluttering hearts. A Peter Pan collar and side belts in a heart motif print completed the design, creating an overall classic romantic silhouette.
Another moment stands out as especially dear : the annual Daddy and Daughter Dance. For this cherished evening, Twinkle wore our antique rose vintage-style dress. It arrived just in time for the occasion : a true miracle that made the moment feel even more special. The soft blush tone, reminiscent of old roses in an English garden, paired with the classic silhouette of a Spanish Marae coat was perfect.
As she stepped under the porch beside her father, the skirt catching the light and ready to twirl, it was clear this would be a memory stitched into their hearts forever. From the delicate bow placed just so, to her perfectly chosen shoes and tights, every element came together effortlessly. She looked radiant.
Pictured in front of their gorgeous home, beautifully decorated for the festive season, the photo could be straight out of a fashion magazine. This time, Twinkle wore our royal red taffeta and lace gown! Fully smocked right up to the shoulder with pearls intertwined in the pattern, this piece was a true gem: most fitting for a princess named Twinkle!
Beyond the dresses
What makes Twinkle’s story even more meaningful to us is that it does not end with her wardrobe.
Through her family, we have had the joy of welcoming many more families into the Charlotte Sy Dimby world. Friends, friends of friends, and kindred spirits who share a love of heirloom clothing and meaningful childhood moments have found their way to us and for that, we are deeply grateful.
Beyond the beauty of dresses, we have also been inspired by Rebecca's generosity of heart. Her kindness toward children and her compassion for animals reflect values that resonate deeply with our own. It reminds us that what we are building is not just a collection of garments, it is a community shaped by warmth, grace and care.
